Final Letter from the MTC! Week 9

We've gotten through the MTC!

Sister Wright flies to Tahiti Monday!

I can't believe it's week 9 - the time has gone by so much faster than I thought it would. I was a bit emotional yesterday, as it hit me that I would be sending my last "dearelder" letter. Honestly, I had mixed feelings about it. From here on out, we will no longer be able to have the luxury of sending Mickey "same day" or "next day" letters and packages. Our mail will now take anywhere from one to three weeks to receive. If we email that she'll only be able to open once a week. I'm sure this will be an adjustment, not just for Sister Wright, but some of us as well ...okay, me!

Seour Wright is SO excited to be going to Tahiti! She has expressed that to us SO much. However, I think that even amidst the excitement, she is feeling nervous. In this week's letter, she expressed to us the things she loves about the MTC:

-safety net                    -personal stud

-I don't cook                 -"P" days

-constant spirit             -getting mail

She also said that she was feeling home sick and told us of the "sounds" she missed from home. This most likely stems from getting to talk to us on Mother's Day (which was amazing, by the way!) as well as getting ready to leave the United States - home.  Here's the list of things she misses from home:

-doorbell                        -music and movies playing
-food                               -hugs
-her shower                     -having a cup to call her own

Today, Mickey expressed being nervous. When I asked her what she was nervous about, she said, "To embark on a journey to Tahiti. I'm nervous that I don't know the language and it is something completely new."

I can only imagine how daunting it is to think about the new life she has in front of her. To leave EVERYTHING she knows to go forth to a new land, culture, people, language, food, etc. To preach the gospel and share her testimony at 20 years old can be a bit intimidating. It's a BIG deal!  As I've reflected on the past nine weeks and go back to Mickey's first few days in the MTC, I see so much courage, faith and strength. I'm proud of what she has accomplished and know that those qualities that got her through the MTC are exactly the same qualities that will get her through the next couple of days as she fights through the nerves of going into a new and unfamiliar life. 

That being said, today I asked Mickey what she was excited about for Tahiti. She said, "Literally everything." (which, ironically, are some of the same things she's nervous about.) "Food, culture, speaking Tahitian, speaking French, new place, new people, away from the MTC, new country, literally, all of it is exciting." 

She will do a wonderful job as a missionary in Tahiti. She has the faith and willingness it takes to be a missionary. She has the work ethic to be disciplined and dedicated. She has the faith, heart and love to embrace the Tahitians so they can feel the Spirit testify. When hard times arise and they surely will, she will give her all and the Lord will bless her for her efforts. I look forward to the next year and a half and she and I both know she is "as prepared and as ready as [she] will ever be."

IAORANA!! - E oaoa vau i te TAHITI!

Je vais à TAHITI. 

We had the pleasure of hearing from Joy D. Jones in our Tuesday Devotional! She shared with us the importance of enjoying the now! (or maybe she didn't but that is what I got out of it) There will always be something to worry about, so worry about what is going on right now. D&C 84: 84-85 "therefore, let tomorrow take thought for the things of itself. Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man."

During Infield Orientation we compared missionary work to a $100 bill. Put it this way: Pretend you're walking around offering everyone a $100 bill. You offered, some accept, some decline. They have that choice (At least you offered it). Now, if you're thinking logically, then you'd say that Everyone could use a $100..I agree.  Now compare that $100 to the message of the Gospel. The Gospel is of grand valuer and everyone could use it, but just because we offer, doesn't mean people are going to accept it. Everyone has their agency to choose, the important thing is that we offer! -I don't ever want someone to feel like they "weren't invited." 

Funny Story time! When you're learning a new language,  it is evident that you're going to say something ridiculous, probably sooner rather than later. In my case, I will be doing it twice as much in the same time frame! HA. (Laugh it up, fuzzball) 

In Tahitian, Tanae means Man and Satane means Satan. Now, I know you think I'm ridiculous because they don't even look kind of similar, but in Tahitian all "S" are pronounced as a "T." Yeaaaaaah.. So my investigator was explaining something she didn't like about her husband, and I said "WAIT! You don't want to live with your family because they worship Satan?" And she about DIED. She laughed so hard... and the best part is that I still didn't have any clue as to what was going on until after the lesson. Tahitian is cool.. 

Oh Yeah, I also tried asking my teacher if she likes Rock Climbing in French, and accidentally asked if she was a Mountain, and of course she looked at me with a straight face and said "Oui. Je suis une Montagne." (I am a mountain..) - They won't let me live that one down. 

I literally pray in 3 languages all at once. Talk about mentally challenged. Hopefully God can decipher the codes I'm sending him.  

I will be Flying to the Islands on Monday! -I know. I know. You're all dying to see the Blue water, and palm trees. So am I.

Letter - Week 8

It's Mother's Day!!  I waited until today to post Sister Wright's letter because I knew if she had access to her cell phone today she would send "Happy Mother's Day" greetings to all who have meant even a little to her. She has such an appreciative heart and I know she is thinking of so many of you today. So, on behalf of Seour Wright:

  ♥♥ HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!♥♥

In this weeks' letter home, Seour Wright talked a lot about her personal studies. She is focusing on reading the Book of Mormon (in English) daily.  She testified of the truthfulness within it's pages. She loves looking at her "old" scriptures and the notes and markings she's made in the past and comparing it to the new markings in her "mission' scriptures. She has grown so much in her testimony and said she has more understanding now and feels more intrigued.  "The light bulbs turned on" for some of the stories she's heard. She believes "God really does take care of his missionaries." 

Seour Wright bore testimony of the power of prayer and that she "knows God speaks to us and God is our friend."  Her testimony has strengthened and said that "we must act on faith". She also said she loves testimony meetings and challenged us to bare our testimonies in FHE. She knows Heavenly Father is shaping us into what he knows we can become and said as long as we reach for Christ, he won't let us down. 

Changing subjects, Mickey said:

"Eat ice cream, because I really love ice cream and I don't get to enjoy it right now, so I want you to."

Someone told her:

"You're the most gracious cryer."  - her teacher T. Cook

"If someone doesn't love you, just sing for them. - an elder from the MTC

"If you ever forget Tahitian or French, just sing." - a Polynesian Elder

Seour Wright said that since she received her travel plans, going to Tahiti feels more real now. She is excited to go. "Tahiti is the place for me! I love hearing about Tahiti and all the awesome things they do there! I can't wait to go. I want to be more chill! - not so busy-bee all the time..."

I will finish with Soeur Wright's testimony: "Being a missionary is hard, I won't lie. It takes dedication to be here. I wouldn't say that I have learned a lot, but I would say that I've learned a bit about motivation and dedication. It would be so easy to give up - but that is not why I came. I chose to go on a mission because I love my Father in Heaven, and I love people. I know God loves me, and because he loves me, I know he loves the rest of his children and I want everyone to know that. I do know this gospel is the truest. I love my Savior and I know he loves me. I will go and I'll do the things the Lord commands. I'll go where you want me to go."

Yep... I'm still at the MTC. 

Elder Weatherford T Clayton of the 70 spoke at our Tuesday Devotional. - Tuahine Robinson and I have made pretty good friends with one of the Ushers so he escorted us to sit on the FRONT ROW... did you know they reserve those seats? (we felt special) He talked a lot about sincere desire and if we are acting on our faith. All I could think about was how cool it is to be a missionary! I still look at missionaries and point them out before remembering that I am actually a missionary, also. I do have a desire to be here. I have a desire to serve people, and I have a desire to share the Gospel with literally everyone. I don't ever want someone to think they aren't loved, and that there is no hope!! "The Savior can make meager means turn into abundance." If we are willing to give the Lord all we have, by his GRACE we are saved, and even made MORE! ♥

We received our Flight plans! I will be flying from SLC to LA, then to TAHITI. (I could not be more excited) It wasn't until this week that I actually started feeling ready to leave. I enjoy the safety net I have here in the MTC, and the thought of leaving is still a little intimidating, however, I am the most ready I can be. I cannot wait to actually fulfill my assignment. ♥

-On that note, I am pretty sure everyone in our District is ready to be out of here.. 8 weeks is a little long. We lose focus...let me rephrase that: We don't have any focus.. We are just ready to be outside. 

Learning two languages is getting confusing. -they are nothing alike! I speak a jumbled mess of words now. (nothing is grammatically correct! -Not even in English) - I apologize.

Letter - Week 7

Sœur Wright's letter home this week was pretty short due to it being pretty "uneventful".  But, that's okay because on Monday, we were able to talk to her on the phone - which was SO MUCH BETTER than a letter! Being able to hear her voice was like Heaven - even if she was on laughing gas! haha.    I won't repeat some of the things she said - but know she made us laugh! She had a filling break and was at the dentist to get it repaired. The nurse let us talk with her for a quick few minutes. This was such a tender mercy! No worries, though! Mickey is doing just fine and is all fixed up ready to go to Tahiti! A blessing was that her Branch President is a dentist - so he was able to help her free of charge. Also, when it was said and done, Sister Wright was able to have Cafe Rio for dinner! I'm sure it made her day - she loves Cafe Rio!

Another fun thing this week - Sœur Wright was able to meet an Elder at the MTC that was actually from Tahiti - he gave Mickey a shell necklace straight from Tahiti! She couldn't have been more excited! She actually said, "I could have died. It's all I've wanted. I can die a happy woman. Also, I can go home now, however, I won't...I'm SO pumped to go [to Tahiti]." Below is a picture of the kind Elder and another picture of Sœur Wright wearing the shell necklace.

Sœur Wright has obviously been studying the gospel a lot. This week, we were excited to find out that we both had been inspired to study the exact same topic at the same time!

"Do you believe IN Christ or do you BELIEVE Christ?"

It was fun to see each other's perspective on the topic and was another testament that when we pray for guidance, God listens and directs us through the Spirit. ...another tender mercy! We are so blessed.

IOARANA! - J'ai commencé Te Reo TAHITI! 

I AM GOING TO TAHITI IN T-17. No joke. 

I am now able to leg press 400 lbs. (FINALLY) it only took a lot of effort these last few weeks, and I've also gained 9 lbs. ... Tahitian Missionary Quota= 5-15 Kilo, and I've already made 5. (No worries, my dresses still fit me!)

I HAVE A NEW COMPANION! Sœur Robinson and I are in a Trio now with Sœur Hosea! She is going to the New York, New York South Mission speaking Haitian Kreyol. She's a PRO piano player, and Sœur Robinson and I definitely take advantage of that, and sing with her every chance we get. 

I hosted again this Wednesday, and I got a sunburn from being outside for 45 minutes. - That's right, a SUNBURN. We're pretty sure God called me to Tahiti just to see how red he could make me naturally..  I like the feeling though. People keep asking me how I got so tan from being inside all day.. Not a tan, just a burn.

Elder Rasband spoke with us on Tuesday! (TWO apostles in 1 month) Here are a few of my notes:

"It takes a long time to grown an apostle. It takes a long time to grow a son or daughter of God! - Be patient" -Melanie Rasband (wife)

"Remember to be BRAVE enough to follow the promptings of the spirit." 

"Never be afraid to ask questions or to share your testimony!" 

"Heed the promptings of the spirit right when you receive them!"

"Let the Lord know you're ready to receive promptings!"

"Failure isn't messing up, it's giving up!" 

Our Apostles are called of God. I am grateful for their love, and righteous examples. ♥ 

Oh, Tahitian is TOP! (French for REALLY COOL!) On Saturday we had one 4-hour block of Tahitian and I thought my brain was going to FRY, but then we had a 4-hour block of French right after and I felt so relieved. I feel pretty confident with my French know-how now. I can't complain. 

Fun Fact: Tahitian is phonetic.. so, pronounce every single letter, and that is probably how to say it. (PS: don't forget that B=P's L=R's and any letter that is not a in the Tahitian alphabet is pronounced like a "T.") (Pss: I believe in you) 

Fun Fact #2: Tahitian is a command language. They don't ask for things, they don't say please, and they don't have an apologetic word. -- You're not allowed to mess up, EVER.

Letter - Week 6

It warms my heart! ♥ I miss that personality in our home! 

Soeur Wright had another great week! She and her companion were extended another week as STL's because they are doing such a fantastic job! "I have felt my love for these sisters increase every day!" she said. Mickey is constantly learning and growing. She is being blessed as well. One way she was blessed this week was getting the opportunity to eat dinner at the Mission President's home. 

Mickey said, "It was SO nice to have a sweet home cooked meal." 

Tomorrow Soeur Wright and her district start learning Tahitian! She says "It's a fun language!" Mickey is well versed in French and tomorrow her district will be doing an "English Fast" - where they only speak French all day long. I know she'll do a great job!

Read below for Seour Wright's letter from her sixth week in the MTC:

Bonjour! This week has been a successful week in learning French. Wanna know how I know that?? I went up to Spanish speaking elders and sisters and tried to have a full on conversation with them (in Spanish) but as it turns out.. I was definitely speaking French.. Oops! I also Dream in French, and have a hard time falling asleep most nights because of conjugating. 

Sœur Robinson and I sang in the Sunday night Devotional and it was solidly OKAY! Thank you all for your prayers for my cute companion! She was feeling much better, and we even remembered all the words! 

Being a missionary means you never know what's happening.. SERIOUSLY. I am always asked to do things out of my comfort zone, and I've learned that I just need to get comfortable being uncomfortable. I know especially in singing, I have enhanced my talents and shared them with more people than I ever thought I would. 

Another lesson learned: The BEST way to become the person you want to, is to BE! We can't say we will become that person later, when the best time to do it is right now! So I challenge you all to BE that person! ♥

We said "Abientôt" (see you soon) to one of our teachers this week! She is headed to Africa for Study Abroad with BYU. -She plays the role of one of our investigators, so before she left we practiced telling our investigators that we were being transferred. -Let me tell ya, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I can't imagine how hard it will be for me to leave the MTC let alone how hard it will be for me to leave Tahiti. ♥ I already have such a deep love for my district here at the MTC, and especially for my companion. ♥ We sang "Till We Meet Again.." for our teacher in Tahitian & French, and no one could hold back the tears. She expressed her love for us, and then said that the day will come where we will all meet together again in 17 months and sing that same song for the LAST time as a missionary, and it will tear our hearts apart. I feel that. It broke my heart! I dread the last day of my mission more than anything.

OH! Our district starts learning Tahitian TOMORROW! --that means, none of you will be able to use Google Translate on the things I say anymore.. (; ♥

I have a few jokes for you today! (Because you know me!) So, we have "Pillars of Humor"  that we do to help people have fun here! One of them being: looking through peep holes (there are peep holes in every door at the MTC) so when your companion is looking through a door, you push her ever so softly into the door.. well, FUNNY STORY! I was looking through the door, and Sœur Robinson pushed me ever so slightly, and I SMACKED my eye on the Peep hole. I had a nice imprint of the circle on my eye, and I now have a big bruise. HA. I also put Oregano Essential Oil on my face instead of Meleluca and I Burnt my face.. oh, and I used my Facial toner as Perfume this morning...

Analogy for missing home! - Home is not something I will ever forget about.. nor will I ever stop missing.. however, on a mission I can't be thinking about home and focused on the work of now! I have to let home be something very dear to me, that I can put on a shelf, to glance at and admire from time to time.. but I also have to let it collect some dust, for when I return I can dust it off and Enjoy home, and fully be there. ♥

I LOVE our Savior, Jesus Chirst! I LOVE the power of Missionary Work!! 

I LOVE YOU! -But I wouldn't choose to be anywhere else. ♥

Letter - Week 5

 Don't you just love Spring time?! Look at all the beautiful flowers! 

I love that Mickey chose to take this tag picture with the vibrant colors of the tulips because it reminds me of her outgoing, beautiful personality. I miss her. SO. MUCH!  That said, I am also enjoying the opportunity our family has to follow Sœur Wright in her mission experience! She is already changing. I can see it. I can feel it. There is an increasing power in each letter she sends home as she bares testimony of the gospel. My heart swells with gratitude as fellow missionaries in the MTC send me videos of her powerfully expressing that testimony in song with Sœur Robinson. It's truly powerful and I feel the Spirit every. single. time.  I honestly feel blessed to be on this journey with her. As a family, we have already been experiencing missionary opportunities alongside her and I feel we are growing together. Mickey and I have grown even closer to one another since she has been in the MTC. Just this week we were talking about serving others. If you want to love a person more - serve them.  As I have served Mickey and supported her through her ups and downs, I have been blessed to feel how the Lord feels for us. He hurts when we hurt. He is happy when we are happy. Just as my love for Mickey is overwhelmingly unconditional, so is the Lord's for us.  Through this experience, I have been blessed to again feel what true charity can do for one's heart. Our family has experienced a number of tender mercies since Mickey has been in the MTC and that is not just by mere coincidence. This gospel is true. God is real. God knows us. He loves us -that I know. I give you the challenge to find a way to be a missionary this week. Give it your all so you can feel God's hand in your life. When you do, you will feel true charity and God's overwhelming unconditional love for you! Only then, can you find true happiness as this gorgeous girl below has! :) ...

Below is Sœur Wright's mass email. It is short. So I will share some additional experiences she told us in our personal letter at the bottom of her letter.  

Bonjour mes amies et ma Famille! ♥

Sœur Robinson and I were able to sing in Sacrament meeting this past Sunday! I definitely feel the spirit best through music, and it's good because my companion sings a lot. While we were singing I could see so many tears in people's eyes and it took everything in me not to go up and hug them all!! -I am keeping count of all the hugs I need when I get home, so everyone best be prepared to hug me! (:

Apparently we did such a good job that we were nominated to sing the musical number for the MTC devotional this coming Sunday. (NO WAY!) A sister came up to us last night and told us she needed us to sing on Sunday for the Devotional and handed us the sheet music to Come Thou Fount! Luckily, We couldn't be more excited and honored to do so, but unfortunately Sœur Robinson woke up with a Sinus infection! -I ask for your prayers that she will be better by Sunday. ♥

I am LOVING learning French!! I learn more every day, and I even surprise myself with how much I can understand. (: 

My teachers say that Tahiti is literally a mission in Paradise. -Also, all of the Senior Couples tell us that we couldn't have asked for a better mission destination. -I am getting more excited by the day. ♥

TIDBITS FROM OUR FAMILY'S PERSONAL LETTER:

"Sunday devotionals are one of the highlights of my Sundays. For Easter Sunday, we had a couple very special visitiors. ...Dallin H. Oaks, his wife, Kirsten and Sherri Dew. Before our devos, we sing for like 15 minutes (which I love!). We opened with "I Believe in Christ" and you best believe I was feeling the Spirit. We proceeded to the opening hymn: "All Creatures of our God and King" AND THEN we had a musical number...have faith, have hope, live like His Son, help others on their way...Knowing that Dallin H. Oaks was to be speaking, plus one of my favorite primary songs, plus Easter made me very happy. I honestly cannot think of a better place to be. I have Christ's name on my chest, the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, and I am literally preparing myself to do the Lord's work full time! So cool.

His wife, Kirsten spoke first and made a few comments that really hit home. They being: "He sent His Son." (Relate to the Primary Hymn) God sent his son. ...now, Brad and Jess - how many things in the world would be worth giving up one of your children? I don't think there are many - that just shows you how important we are to our Heavenly Father. But think of it this way. (I know you consider me to be one of your children, so it works.) 

YOU sent ME. You sent me. To continue the work of God and you will send more! God is worth sending your children for, so we can be together for an Eternity! Earth is only a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things and so is a mission! :)

Next, she shared the importance of The Living Christ. Read it often as a family and the truth that God sent His Son should never waver in our testimonies. 

Dallin H. Oaks: 'Our message is increasingly unique.' 'Be not faithless, but believing.'

I love being an STL!! The girls in my zone love Sœur Robinson and me! We do our best to reach out to them to feel loved! I have a sincere love for every girl here. I testify that you cannot not love those you serve! If you even have a bit of animosity toward someone, do something to serve them.

Funny story of the week:

"Do you know in Finding Nemo, where Marlin and Dory are lost, looking for Nemo, and they ask the fish for directions...and because Marlin asks in a grumpy tone, the fish reply in a grumpy tone by saying, "blah blah blah blah..." well, in the temple video we watched last week, I saw fish that looked just like those fish, so I randomly blurted out, "blah blah blah blah..." just like it does in Nemo...let me tell ya, everyone thought it was the most sacreligious thing I have ever done.  I felt so bad. Literally all I was trying to do was quote a movie, but at the wrong moment."

...timing is everything.

Letter - Week 4!

Can you believe Sister Wright is already almost half way through the MTC??  It's starting to go by faster now and she is doing well!  She says the days are LONG but strangely enough, the week passes quickly.  One fun thing about Sister Wright this week is that she and her companion, Sister Robinson were called into the Branch Presidents office and asked to be Sister Training Leaders! Anyone who knows Mickey knows she is a leader, so we're not at all surprised! She said they usually call the outgoing ones. That would be her as well.  She will do a fantastic job!  Something Mickey does that melts my heart every week is addressing our letters Ma Famille or My Family. She really is part of our family and we continually feel blessed she has chosen us to go on this journey alongside her. We are already receiving missionary opportunities through her and it's so exciting! The Lord is so good! Below are a few remarks Sister Wright wrote in our personal family letter I thought you might like:

I'm going to be a PRO-Volleyball player when I leave the MTC!

Everyone in the MTC thinks I'm funny. It makes me happy!

As a sister training leader, it is our job to host new missionaries into our zone. It is SO fun! this week we got 28 new missionaries.. which is a lot. We have the biggest zone in the MTC! (: on an average, 100-300 missionaries enter the MTC every week. (: Last week we had 120, and this week there were 180! CRAZY! can you believe that? there are like 900 missionaries here right now. maybe even more, I dunno. 

Last week I hosted two sisters who are both going State side, and this week I only hosted 1 sister from New Zealand. --I only had one sister this week because we had a LOT to do. When a missionary comes from out of the country, we have to get them X-rays, make sure they have a Visa, scan their passport, make sure they have all the clothes they need, get them set up with their tablet, and tell them all about the MTC. I literally gave her a tour of the MTC. It was a lot of fun!

I love hosting because talking to new people is my specialty...and I could tell she was super nervous, and I loved comforting her. 

A bunch of girls in our district got sick this week, and I had all the medications to heal them...haha I am practically a doctor. (; Also, I Cannot wait to be a mom, so I can care for people all the time. I love to take care of people. I think that's why I've always wanted to go into the medical field, but I've noticed that all I really want is to take care of my family. ♥

Sister Robinson and I taught a Relief Society lesson on the Apostasy and Restoration. It was really cool that we (as a family) were able to go to the Liberty and Carthage Jails, where I peaked an interest in Joseph Smith. ...Joseph Smith is AWESOME! I can honestly say, I did not have a full testimony of Joseph Smith before this weekend, but I do now. I KNOW that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. He was called to restore the Gospel by our Savior himself. I know he was humble, meek and submissive as a child (14 yo) with the willingness and desire to know the truth. He was given the authority to translate the Book of Mormon! Le Livre De Mormon sais vrai! (The Book of Mormon is True) I am a burning witness of this divine truth and I challenge each of you to study and ponder for yourself to know in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 

Week 4 Letter from Sister Wright:

4, Already? There's no way. 

In the MTC we (my companion and I) give our teachers (as investigators) the missionary lessons in French! Well, every week I learn something new from the lessons we teach and this week I learned that it's okay to let the Spirit testify. We prepare our lesson before we go, and when we arrive to the lesson, we are supposed to follow the spirit. As the lesson began, I noticed that Sœur Robinson was talking a whole lot more than I was, and I felt GUILTY! I didn't want her to feel like I wasn't participating, it's just that I couldn't think of ANYTHING to say. So what do I do?... I start to talk, and naturally I couldn't remember any French. Not one thing. We went on a good 85% of the lesson and the only thing I said in French was the prayer. Finally, the time came where S.R. invited our ami de l'Église (investigator -Literal translation: friend of the Church) to pray to know the truthfulness of our message and said she was too scared to pray in front of us. I knew EXACTLY what to say! "J'essaye par la Francé.. alléz-vous essayer don prier?" (I am trying to speak French, will you try to pray) She clearly saw that I was being sincere and she agreed to pray in front of us, as long as we closed our ears.. 

-I learned that the Spirit is in charge of the lessons, and it is OKAY if your companion is the only one speaking most of the time. -I spoke when I knew I needed to, and I surely had the help of the Holy Ghost to testify. It was the strongest lesson we have had as a companionship. ♥

L'Église est vrai! ♥ Dieu vous aime. ♥ J'aime l'evangile. ♥

Je T'aime.

Letter - Week 3

YAY!!

BLESSINGS  have been poured out upon Sister Wright!

Another week has gone by and Sister Wright is doing SO GOOD!! ;)   She has a new and improved attitude about her work and we feel like she is on fire! All of our prayers have been assisting her and she is becoming proof that the gift of tongues is real. She KNOWS it. The gift of understanding is real. It's amazing what the Lord will do for those who have his will at heart. Sister Wright is truly being blessed and is now "SO HAPPY" in the MTC.

PHEW!!  Now I can stop worrying so much about how she's doing! Mickey's over the hardest part and has found purpose. ...She will be just fine! :)

One thing is for sure, we are SO PROUD of this special missionary we call Mickey!

WHAAAAAT? - Week 3? -NO WAY.

I love it here. 

I could finish with that, but you know me.. I won't. 

this week, I learned the importance of KEEPING IT SIMPLE. - I am an over-thinking, stressed, and complicating person. I always over-complicate EVERYTHING. -which isn't bad, I guess.. but when you're teaching people things, it can make things a little more confusing.  -I obviously don't speak french fluently yet, and my vocabulary is very basic, so I have no choice but to keep things simple! -I love this!  Our teacher noticed that everyone in my class knows quite a bit about the gospel  (which is a surprise because I didn't think I knew anything about it) and a reason we are called to preach the gospel in a new language is so that we can remember to keep it simple! We don't need to go around complicating things in English, so instead, that option was revoked.. haha

It's been a rough week for my district. - I honestly wouldn't expect anything less though. there are 8 of us, all together, all the time. Class, meals, housing, study time. ALL DAY. So after a companionship of the elders blew up yesterday (metaphorically speaking) (they were angry), our teacher had us all go around and share the things we love about one another! ♥ I love my district. We all have so many qualities that make us a family, and help us build each other up! A few things that were mentioned about me included my COMPLETE change in attitude since day one! My teachers didn't know how they were going to be able to help me, mainly because it is a personal choice to be here. - I mentioned that I am here because I LOVE this gospel!! -And they can all see it now. They know I am here for a reason, and I am giving it my all! I have put in every effort to learn this language, and every single one of the missionaries in my district is impressed that I am caught up to all of them in my French know-how, and they all had a 3 year head start. Elder Davis (DL) said.. "I know exactly why you were called to learn 2 languages. So you can share the gospel with as many people possible!" ♥♥♥ the more languages you know, the more people you can talk to! HOW AWESOME IS THAT! - of all the missions, I was called to the 1 that learns 2! ♥ I have such a great ability to learn because I WANT to. It's all in our desires. 

I love the MTC. I love feeling the Spirit ALL the time! It's hard not to. (:

A SPECIAL TREAT! ...Micky sent us a video of her and Sister Robinson singing a "Child's Prayer".  I can't post it because the file is too large, but if you have ever heard Mickey sing, you KNOW it was beautiful! I literally felt the Spirit ju st listening to them sing. 

...a few extras from our personal letter and emails this week: *note: her letter to us was very tender and I cried tears of Gratitude for the special place this girl has taken up in our lives. Why we were blessed to have her in our home and lives constantly for the past 2 years is beyond me, but we feel SO grateful for the experience and KNOW she was absolutely in our home for a purpose. WE wI'll keep out the pages of "mushy" stuff, but below are a few fun things she didn't write in the group email. 

"I am grateful for all of the love and support you have shown me through this experience of going on a mission. I can truthfully say that I have been tested to my breaking point, where I think I can't be any weaker and God still continues to test me, right before he show me countless blessing and helps me back onto my feet."

Mickey's Favorite General Conference Talk:

"I had such a good Conference. I love General Conference! I love our prophet, Thomas S. Monson and I fully sustain him. And our apostles!"

"Coolest thing about the MTC: I feel the Spirit ALL the time. I don't even know when I'm really feeling the Spirit anymore, because it's all the time."

"Keep sending SO MUCH MAIL. It reminds me that I have you guys and you're a large reason of why I'm here. I love your support. I love knowing how much love you have for me." 

"OH !!! I was a host this week! It's where you get to host all of the new missionaries that are coming in! CRAZY!!!-  so many babbling moms, tears and luggage every where.  ...this coming week, we get to host again! -we are getting 28 new missionaries in our zone! can you believe that???? - THATS A LOT OF Frenchies! (People learning french)  I hear at least 6 of them are going to Tahiti!!! SO COOL!!!!!!! (: I can't wait to meet them all."

"We have 2 devotionals a week.. one on Sunday evening, and one on Tuesday evening... :) we heard from BYU vocal point! - our schedule is crazy busy all the time... ALL THE TIME."

"FUNNY THING: I'll be in class sometimes or at devotionals and I'll point to a set of missionaries and say, 'Oh my gosh! the missionaries!!!' - it's not even real...every time I see Christ's name on my heart, I get so excited, knowing I am doing his work. People always say that one of the hardest days of their life was the day they had to take off the badge. I seriously hope my love for this Gospel and this work continues to grow so strong that when my time comes to take off the badge, it will be the hardest day of my life."  

There you have it! I am already excited to see what happens for Sister Wright this coming week! Keep praying for her - you guys have been great and we appreciate you stepping up to help her the past couple of weeks. Pray is REAL! God is aware of us and wants to help. This week is PROOF that He is a loving God and takes care of our needs - sometimes we just have to hang in there - but like Mickey, in the end, we win. We become stronger through the trials of our faith and and we realize he truly loves us. This gospel is true and it's so fun to see Mickey experience what it has to offer our souls when we are true to it! She is becoming a beautiful (inside and out!) woman. ♡♡
